| Hoodoos (rocky pillars) of basaltic tuff along the Wild Horse Canyon Road near Hole-In-The-Wall in the Mojave National Preserve. Volcanic rocks in this vicinity are deposits of volcanic material ejected from the nearby Woods Mountain volcanic center that formed in Middle Miocene time, around 16 million years ago (McCurry, 1988). |
