Lake Mead National Recreation Area
Location Map This view shows a nonconformity between steeply inclined layers of crystalline basement metamorphic rocks (Precambrian-age schist and gneiss) and overlying, nearly horizontal-bedded lava flows of Miocene age. This view is near river mile 55 near Indian Rapids (now submerged by Lake Mojave) (Beard and others, 2007).
