| Late afternoon light highlights the difference between dark gravel of the alluvial fan and recent mudflow deposits along the Big Four Mine Road. The mudflow originated from poorly consolidated Tertiary-age deposits high in the Panamint Mountains to the east. Mudflows provide most of the sediments to the surface of the playa. |
