Mosaic Canyon
This view is looking downstream to where the stream enters the narrow chasm of lower Mosaic Canyon. The change in shape of the canyon partly reflects the location of a fault. The denser Noonday Dolomite (close to being marble in character) is exposed on the downstream side of the fault and is responsible for the narrow stream chasm. Upstream in the broader valley the bedrock consists of younger, faster eroding sedimentary formations.
