Canyonlands National Park
View of the Colorado River from near the Colorado River boat launch near Potash. Note the gentle dip of the Chinle (slope) and Wingate (sandstone cliffs). The strata are dipping to the northwest off the flank of the Cane Creek anticline. Tamarisk (also called Salt Cedar) dominates the banks and floodplains of the Colorado River. Tamarisk is an invasive plant that was probably introduced to the Colorado River system in the 1800s. For more information about Salt Cedar see http://www.nps.gov/plants/alien/fact/tama1.htm.
